Whatever Happened to the Simpsons' House?

Remember awhile back when there was a huge Pepsi giveaway of a real-life replica of Simpsons' house from The Simpsons? I drank a lot of Pepsi for the first time in my life during that time period, hoping to win, didn't, and then like most things, I forgot about it and moved on. But whatever happened to the house itself? Once again, Wikipedia answers my questions.

So apparently the lady who won back in 1997 opted out for a $75,000 cash prize instead of the house itself, which is the first sad thing. Why is that sad, you ask? Because she didn't care about the house. Probably she wasn't even a true Simpsons fan. And after all the prize shenanigans, the house was just stripped of its Simpsonness, repainted and sold like any regular old house. What the hell? Wouldn't some diehard fan want to live there, in the glamorous burb of Henderson, Nevada? Well, apparently not.

  1. Now THIS would be a perfect, fun weekend diary at the Great Orange Satan. Just saying.

  2. Whoa! Oh my God! A comment!

I appreciate your suggestion, Ms. SusanG, however I feel my "blog posts" are too short for Big Orange Satan. Plus I don't feel this kind of thing fits in among the other cultural stuff on there: political book reviews, "Happee Caturday Pootie Diary," etc.

But who knows what the future holds?

  4. I would still live there today with my wife Marge, my daughters Maggie and Lisa, my son Bart, and my dog honestly would be named whatever my wife wanted. There must be some concessions!

  5. While watching an episode of the Simpsons on my DVR I too wondered "whatever happened to the real life Simpsons house?" Ugh, now Im sad. Not so much because she passed it up, but that it was changed to a normal boring house. It would have been a super funky bed and breakfast!
