Great Flash Piece

I just discovered Sleet Magazine, an online venue for fiction and poetry writers, and wanted to share this lovely flash fiction piece called "SON" by Nina Badzin. I find flash to be the hardest to write, but this piece pulls it off so well. You get a sense of an entire complex relationship, lifelike characters, a before and after. And all so quickly! It's no wonder it was a Pushcart nominee.

  1. Hi! I happened upon this from Google. Thank you so much for your kind comments about the story. I appreciate it so much! I think flash is hard to write, too, but I find having a word count limit forces me to figure out the crucial elements of the story. No room for extra info or back story! Nina :)

  2. Thanks for your comment, how exciting to have an author comment on my little blog! Loved your story. And it's true what you said about flash putting a limit on word count. Hard as it can be, it forces a writer to really be as concise as possible. :) Hope to see more of your work in the future.
