Here's an amusing post on This Moi about the various 50's/ 60's girl groups that have inspired female blogger/ writer Kartina Richardson. She gives props to greats like the Shirelles, Ronettes, Shangri-Las, and even name-drops a few I haven't heard of but should -- and will -- look up. One girl group she didn't mention was a fave of mine the Tammys, who blow me away with their magnificent shrieky vocals and an almost-bizarre quality to their songs that I feel goes one step beyond most girl groups.
